It appears that the economy reservation limits carry on baggage to 13 pounds, while first class can carry on 35 pounds. This restriction in effect means than no one in economy can carry on their luggage if they only have one bag. Has anyone out there had a similar experience with Virgin Atlantic. I am surprised. I expected to be able to carry on one rolling backpack. I bought a back pack from RICK STEVES that weighs 7 pounds. With my computer, I will have no room for clothes, in terms of the 13 pound weight restriction. Does anyone out there have a similar experience with Virgin Atlantic?
2 years ago i flew Virgin from LA to Heathrow. They weighed my bags. I had a carryon suitcase that was too heavy even empty and I never should've taken it but anyway, I had to check that. Even my backpack with my laptop, one change of clothes, and guidebooks was pretty heavy and they made me move a couple things to my checked suitcase. It may have been that the woman I got at the desk that day was mean, but yeah, you might have to plan on checking :(
A backpack that weighs 7 lbs empty is way too heavy to use as a carryon, in my opinion. You could get a much lighter bag and actually have room for things inside. I always check a bag anyway, so a weight restriction doesn't bother me.
