Eating in Paris, montmarte area

Hello, I will be in Paris for 5-6 days and i am looking for advice for eating on a budget, the hostel i am staying at is providing a basic breakfast which will help alot, but are there alot of Crepe stands and Kebab stands around the 18th? and what do they cost?

Also, I am looking for a great french meal at least once there, Ive heard you can find pretty good deals in the 20 euro range for a bistro lunch. any recommondations in that area?

thanks!

There are definitely crepe stands in Montmartre. Average cost (including a drink) is around 5 Euro.

There are many bistros in the vicinity where you can get a multi-course lunch for 20 Euros - stop by whichever place looks interesting and check out the chalkboard menu - if it's not written in English and the patrons look to be mostly locals, you should be fine.

Bryan - I had a memorable lunch at La Maison Rose Restaurant - French onion soup, apricot crepe, a coke and tip for 20 Euros. It's right around the corner from the Clos Vineyard.

Le Rendez-vous des Chauffeurs
11 rue des Porte Blanche 75018 - 01 42 64 04 17
around the corner from Metro exit at rue Ordener & rue des Poissonniers
(Behind Montmatre...way behind)
Metro #4,12- Marcadet-Poissonniers
If you don't mind a short walk from Montmatre to this small place you will find one of the best bargains in Paris. 2 course lunch under 20 euros, very well prepared bistro food, pleasant (for Paris) service, no tourists and they do speak some english if your french is as bad as mine.

If you're on the move and want something to eat but don't want to sit down, just about everywhere are the hole-in-the-wall crepe stands that are sometimes attached to larger restaurants. The sandwiches are a good deal...they throw them on the panini grill.
