We are traveling by car mid May for 9 days from Appenzell to Lago Maggiore. Our plan is to spend 2 nights in or around Appelzell and end up the last night on Lago Maggiore to make it an easy drive to the Malpensa Airport. We would appreciate suggestions for some of those out of the way places in between and where to stay. Any suggestions for B & B's in Appenzell or locations on Lago Maggiore/Lugano? Thanks,

David, For your stay in Appenzell, you might have a look at www.adlerhotel.ch/soend-woellkomm.htm?id=15&lang=2 - it's in a great location, the rooms are very comfortable and I believe they have a few parking spots available. There's a bakery on the main floor, so it's a great place to enjoy a few pastries and other treats. In Lugano you could have a look at Hotel Pestalozzi. I don't know whether they have parking available, but that information is likely on the website. It's also in a great location, close to the lake and very comfortable. Happy travels!
