I'm a student and I am studying abroad in Strasbourg right now. I'm going to be traveling for Easter weekend and I can't decide between trying to go to Rome or Vienna for easter weekend.. Either one would be awesome. I have been to Rome once, but not on easter weekend and not with the anticipation of a new Pope. However, I'venever been to Vienna and I have read that the Bonfires are a beautiful tradition there and that the Easter Markets are amazing. I need advice.
Well, Kayla, your post makes me smile as many, many years ago when I was a student studying in Germany, I spent Easter in Paris. ; ) I went to the American Cathedral, which was a big mistake as all it did was make me feel very homesick, but then I had Easter dinner with French Pen Pal which was wonderfully French. I think that you could go wrong either way. If you don't hear from anyone, you could always do what I did when I was in Carcassonne and trying to decide between Barcelona and Switzerland. I flipped a coin. Switzerland won. ; ) Pam
Rome would probably be warmer.
Rome is expensive all year round. Rome on Easter is even worse. Rome on Easter with a brand new Pope? Priceless ;-)... If I was you I'd search for flights first. You've got easyJet flights from Basel/Mulhouse airport and you've got Ryanair and Air Berlin flights from Karlsruhe/Baden Baden airport - in addition to the few French domestic flights from SXB. Also there is a Lufthansa bus between Strasbourg and Frankfurt Airport.
