Early November in Bernese Oberland

We're going to be in the Interlaken area from October 30th to November 6th and are wondering if the weather will allow for hiking. Also, will the ski season prices likely be in effect at this time?

Thanks,
Cathy

I can't predict the weather, but it will be cold, quite likely cloudy, and there may be some snow around, but not enough to ski on.

This is "low season" around there, and hotels---the ones that are open---will have their lowest rates. Definitely not high ski season prices.

This is a beautiful area to hike. But the weather can be iffy so short hikes maybe possible only. Dress appropriate for cold, rain and maybe early snows. The Jungfrau for us in July 2009 was clouded in and rainy for 5 days straight so it can be difficult to predict. Anyway it is lovely and should not be missed.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. We contacted Muerren by email and two of the lifts would not be functioning in addition to the likelihood of snow covering hiking paths. As a result, we're going to look for another area to visit. If anyone has any suggestions for the timeframe (Oct 30 to Nov 7), especially if you know of good hiking areas, we'd appreciate your input. We've already been to Italy, England and Scotland and will be spending time in the Paris area so we're looking at other options. Thanks! Cathy
