We have 6:55 am flight out of Barcelona heading home. We are public transposration folks but there are no early early options. Would you suggest staying downtown and taking a cab or staying near the airport? If near the airport any suggestions under $100 that offer early monring transfer. We will be concluding a 3 week independent trip Portugal and Spain and coming off a cruise so we will not have spent a previous night in Barcelona (we will do our Barcelona sightseeing before the cruise)
This Barceolon tourist fuide webpage offers a list of hotels near the airport: http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/airport/barcelona-airport.html It looks like they still require a taxi ride to the airport (no shuttle), although only 5 to 10 minutes. Whether that would save you money depends on when the meter drops (if it drops when the taxi is called and heads to the hotel to pick you up, that could add up.) I always hate to waste a night in a beautiful city by staying at an airport hotel. So I would opt for the city hotel and taxi from ther. The same sebsite extimates taxi fare between airport and downtown at 25 to 30 euros. It could be higher at odd hours, I suppose. Choosing a hotel in th eeixemple with good transport acess would reduce the taxi cost a bit.
We too had an early fight and got a taxi on Las Ramblas at about 3am with no problem, there were so many of them it was easy. Think it was about 30 euro and about half hour or less to airport.
