We have an early morning flight (7:55am)out of the Nice airport. We are planning to drop our car the day before and spend the night in Nice. We would like to stay in the town. Is it feasible to get a taxi or airport shuttle from the downtown area to the airport or do you recommend staying near the airport. Thank you.

Jayne - You might consider turning in your car the day of your flight. Nice taxis and shuttles are supposed to be fairly expensive. We stayed at the Hotel le Royal right on the Promenade des Anglais and turned our car in at the airport on the morning of our early flight. The Nice airport is small and easy to navigate. Hopefully others will have more info on taxis/shuttle but wanted you to consider another option.

The first #98 bus leaves the Gare Routiere (Nice bus station) at 05:35. It arrives at Terminal 2 at 05:59 and at Terminal 1 at 06:04.
I don't know what car rental agency you plan to use, but the Auto Europe site lists an after hours drop box at the T2 car park.

We just came back from Nice. The B&B we stayed in (Villa Les Cygnes) in the city was on a side street and had free parking on the street. Rental car drop-off was easy, and the B&B was only about 10-15 minutes away. The back and forth using a cab could get pretty expensive.

Jayne - Keeping it real simple - Grier hit it right on the money - Turn the car in at the Airport - Forget about buses, taxis, trains, etc. No need to get over complicated with this one!!
