Early a.m. flight from Nice

Anybody had experience catching an early flight (7:00 a.m.) from Nice? Need to get from Nice Etoile to Airport.

I presume a taxi is the best option early in the morning.

Of course if you're flying internationally from Nice, getting there an hour prior to departure is way to late --and even if you're not, if you miss the first bus, you're equally messed up.

Have your hotel set up a taxi for you.

Yes, a taxi will be your best option.

The first #98 bus leaves the Gare Routiere (Nice bus station) at 05:35 and arrives at Terminal 2 at 05:59 and at Terminal 1 at 06:04. I assume that will be cutting it too close.

Ignore what Steve wrote. The Santa Maria Novella train station is in Florence, Italy, not Nice.

Eric,

I'd suggest either a Taxi or Shuttle. Pre-arrange that with your Hotel in Nice. Be ready to go "on time" as I've found the Shuttles to be very punctual!

As Tim mentioned, I was also wondering about the reference to "Santa Maria Novella"???

Cheers!

Thanks for the advice. I have a choice between a 6:55 flight to a connection in AMS and a 10:35 flight to a connection at JFK. The latter gets me back 12 hours after the first (after connections).

Eric, I can't remember the name of the hotel where we stayed across the street from the Nice airport, but could find it out for you when we return home on the 15th.

We had a 7am flight a few years ago, and made a reservation at the one recommended in the RS book at the time. Fortunately, we didn't have to make a deposit, as when we got to the area the night before we had trouble finding it, didn't like the look of it, and there were other hotels closer.

We ended up walking into a business-style hotel literally across the street from the airport (there are lots). Ended up paying the same amount we would have at the other place, had a decent meal, clean modern room, and quiet night's sleep (maybe not many flights taking off after a certain hour?).

Next morning, we walked across the street at 5 am and didn't have to stress whether the driver would be there to pick us up. (We actually stayed in Villefranche-sur-mer, so were more concerned about reliability because of the distance.) Don't remember if the hotel had a shuttle, as we didn't feel like we needed it.

Eric

Just to clear up the first posting which is a little odd but he may have been in a hurry----

----and the Bus between the airport and Santa Maria Novella railway station takes 20 minutes.------

The only SMN railway station that I am aware of is in Florence, Italy. A little more than 20 minutes away -- more like 24 hrs and probably no bus service. Over a hundred years ago Nice was a part of Italian and some Italian sounding names might be expect but if you have been there you would know most everything now has French sounding name. The central station is Nice is pretty simple -- Gare Nice Ville. Two other stations on either end of Nice are Nice Riquier and Nice St. Augustin (near airport). But notice that the French have conveniently used the name of Nice in all of the stations. Don't want you getting too lost looking for Santa Maria Novella
