Eagle's Nest- Open daily?

I know the Eagle's Nest (the chalet is what I'm specifically speaking about) opens mid-may, and that it closes at 14:50- but is it open daily? I've looked and can't find if it's closed on certain days?

Thanks!

Amanda, I was in Austria a few weeks ago, but unfortunately couldn't get to the Eagle's Nest due to the "late spring" we're having. It normally opens about mid-May, however there was more snow this year so anticipated opening is the end of May.

AFAIK, the Eagle's Nest is open daily. You might want to check with either Bob's Special Tours (Salzburg) or Eagle's Nest Tours (Berchtesgaden) for up-to-date information. I'd highly recommend a guided tour rather than seeing this on your own, as you'll get so much more historical information.

Cheers!

Yes it is opened daily and they have later hours as the summer season is here.

The road construction is completed and reopened May 18th. On May 24th it closed for several days as there was an electrical fire but has since reopened.

*Just check with your local TI booth or call before you go that day. If you want the views only go if it's a clear day.

We did Obersalzburg in the morning and the Salzwerk in the afternoon as it was closed when we were there. Then we had time to walk around Berchtesgaden town center.

You can easily visit Obersalzburg, the Documentation Center, before or after you visit Eagle's nest. It is on the same bus route. Buses leave from Berchtesgaden train station.
Allow yourself 1-1/2 to 2 hours for this and rent the English audioguide for 2.00 Euro.

A 28 minute film occurs during the self tour. Unforunately, it is only offered in German right now. It is an account by local Berchtesgaden people who knew Hitler before WWII and during WWII.
