Has anyone taken the night boat Ams-Lon (or vice versa)? Comments on it? Did you get a good night's sleep?
I'll have to do some more research. I never knew a boat (day or night) went from Amsterdam to London. I can do you a day or night boat from Hoek van Holland to Harwich. If that's of any use I've taken the jet boat which is, as the name says, pretty quick and is a really neat nearly square boat. The one that runs at night is a slow ROLO with cabins and I haven't done that one. The only ships going up the Thames are freighters as far as I know. Somebody give me knowledge....
take two.... Every day I learn something is a great day.... Have a look at what the Man in Seat 61 has to say. Good Youtube video at the bottom. Oh, and I was right before.... it really is the Hoek to Harwich service with new trousers on...
Yep, Man in Seat 61 is where I heard of the night boat. Curious if anyone has done it. Thanks.
Nobody, huh? Pretty rare for this board. I will make a mental note to report back on the experience in June.
Thanks, Michael, I'll look forward to seeing how your experiences are. The boat as advertised seems reasonable price and the fit-out looks really good. Its a big step up from the boat they used to use. Maybe your Bump will get a response.
Jessica Was it the British or Dutch train that was late?
My husband and I took the dutch flyer in September. We loved it. We thought it was very reasonably priced considering you get dinner on the boat, a great room and breakfast. The only downside that we experienced was the train that took us directly to the boat was delayed. While this didn't create any major problems it did make our already short amount of time on the boat even shorter.
Beware of the long train trip between Rotterdam and Hoek van Holland (Haven). It is a slow train line, so plan accordingly if embarking on Netherlands.
It was the british train that was delayed. We ended up getting on the boat about 1.5 hours later than expected.
That's rough. 90 minutes is a delay and a half. Bummer.
