I am heading down (from London) to Dusseldorf, Germany this weekend. I do not have a lot planned as far as sightseeing is concerned. Does anybody have suggestions on things to see while in Dusseldorf? Maybe things that would lead me away from the tourists!
Duesseldorf does not get a lot of traffic on tourist boards but that does not mean that it is not a good stop. It should be easy to avoid tourists.

I can definitely recommend to visit Dyck castle, a French style chateau surrounded by water and beautiful gardens: www.schuerrle.com/dyck. There's also a maze and many other things to do and in the local restaurant you can eat their own produce. Also note how amazingly flat the entire area is...
