My husband and I are starting in Paris, staying in Montreal in Burgundy for a week, and driving to Ile sur la Sorgue in Provence. Do any of you know of a nice place on the way down to stop over nite? Or for several nights? Maybe somewhere in the area west of the A7, south of Lyon? He is a photographer and it would be nice if it was picturesque. Also ,after we stay in Isle sur la Sorgue, we are going to the Var area and would like to stay outside Cotignac. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jane
Hi Kent... I knew it was not very far and , perhaps, we will drive all the way down, but we had a dreadful time last October when we left Montreal in Burgundy and drove to Beynac in the Dordogne. Everyone told us that it was a 4 hour drive and we would get there before noon. Ha ! It took us 10 and a half hours to get there . It was dark and the traffic on the way down was incredible. On the way back I decided I had found a much easier way-- auto route a lot of the way, etc. Nope! It still took us 10 hours. So ... I guess we decided to take our time and stay somewhere on the way. My husband is a photographer and we thought there might be something interesting we had not seen along the way.. doesn't have to be south of Lyon.. just somewhere in the middle. Have you ever been to the Var region.. around Cotignac? Any thoughts on that area?
