driving in spain

We will be renting a car in Jerez. An IDP and a GPS has been recommended. Is either necessary?

Actually, the IDP is required; the GPS is a personal preference.

I find a GPS to be a very useful tool and I would recommend it. I also look at a map to have a general idea of where I'm going, though.
