Driving in europe

Planning to drive from Brussels to Paris to Barcelona to Marseilles to Milan to Basel and Brussels in the end of July. What are the countries that need vignettes? The rental car is from Brussels.

John, Wow, that's a lot of driving! What's the time frame of this trip? I don't have all the information, but hopefully someone will be able to provide the answers. I believe Switzerland requires the vignettes. For driving in Italy, I assume you're aware of the requirements for the compulsory I.D.P. for driving there. Also, be careful to avoid the ZTL areas, as large fines will result!

Definitely Switzerland. Not for France or Italy, but an IDP is required in Italy.

Of the countries you are driving Switzerland is the only one that requires a vignette. They only sell one that is good for a year which costs around 40 Swiss francs. If you should change plans and venture into Austria they also require one but they do sell a 10 day sticker. Ken mentioned the IDP for Italy which you can get at your local AAA office and it is required by law. There are plenty of tolls in Italy. Part of that route will probably pass through Germany. An environmental sticker is required for some areas.

As far as I am aware an environmental sticker is only required in Germany for some city centres, so if you're just passing though you should be OK
