We have 4 1/2 days (and 4 nights) to drive from Sevilla to Granada (leave on a Friday morning and arrive Tuesday at about noon). Along the way we'd like to see Cadiz, Jerez de la Frontera, Arcos, Zahara, Grazalema and Ronda. Is this too much? How should we divide the time and where should we spend the nights? Thanks.
We recently returned from Spain and visited most of the places you mention but didn't make it all the way down to Cadiz or Jerez. That said, you should be able to drive to Cadiz from Seville easily and spend a night there - you could visit Jerez after you leave Cadiz. Arcos is definitely worth a night - the views are great. After leaving Arcos, you can drive through Zahara and Grazalema in one day on your way to Ronda. The roads to Zahara and Grazelema are very narrow, and in the mountains and take quite a while to drive - but both of these little towns are lovely. I don't think I would spend the night in either since they are so small. Ronda is definitely worth a night or maybe two and then driving from Ronda to Granada in one day is very easy.
It is a lovely area - you will love it no matter where you decide to spend your nights.
We also just did exactly that same drive - five days from Sevilla to Granada. We did go to Cadiz for one night and really enjoyed the city: swim in the Atlantic, Boardwalk and Beach, great dining, even a Rodin exhibit in the street. We loved Arcos, Ronda, Nerfa with all the 'usual trimmings'. But if you like outdoors at all, El Torcal (National Park near Antequera) is a MUST SEE. We spent hours and hours there amongst some of the most amazing and breathtaking geological formations I have seen anywhere. Totally unique. RONDA: There is a simple hike to the bottom of the bridge; look up from there and be even further amazed. ARCOS: Take the time to walk the length of the whole city; doesn't take long and gives a good flavor for a quintessential white hill town. Don't miss the local boys taking penalty kicks against a 500 year old Cathedral door!
ENJOY! And if you are returning your car to the Train station in Granada, consult your map real carefully! (We drove quite a few circles first looking for it and then trying to figure out how to get into the parking lot! ENJOY! We did the rest of our trip via public transport but did enjoy the flexibility of having a car in Andalusia.
