Hi, my wife and I are going to Europe in September. We have decided that we are going to rent a car in Germany for 2 days, we'll pick up the car in Munich and return it in Cologne. Right now the only thing I know is that we will drive from Munich to Fussen(King Ludwigs Castles) and here is where I need some help!
What's the best sightseeing route from Fussen to Cologne? and is 2 days enough for this trip? Please advise. Thx. Gil
How about you do Munich via Rothenburg and the Romantic road to the greater Frankfurt area on day one (e.g. stay over in Mainz, Frankfurt or somewhere in between) and then do the world famous rhine river gorge on the 2nd day with stops at Bacharach, St. Goar and other towns and villages (according to RS's book) and end the day in Cologne. By the way the downtown of Bonn is always worth visiting and would be on your way...
I would drive the romantic road to Rothenburg, stay a night and take the night watchmans tour. Then take the freeways to the Rhine and drive along the River the rest of the way.
