I will be driving from Marbella to Madrid the first week of November. Will I need to worry about snow if I am going through mountain areas? Where is a good place to stop along the way? I looked into taking the AVE train as well as flying from Malaga, but these ideas are much too pricey.
Norm, where are you finding these prices? When I went to the train and air sites, it is more like $250/pp. I only need to go to Madrid for one day for an event on Nov. 7th. Driving 6 hours seems much cheaper, although if you could tell me where to find these deals..I could get there much faster.
No, no worries about snow, Jackie, altho you may run into some rain. They do occasionally get snow, but that's usually not until January and it melts relatively fast...much like you get in Washington state. In the higher elevations to the east, in the Sierra Nevadas, they ski during the winter,...but that's a lot higher than you'll be. Consider carefully the driving issue though, from a cost standpoint. If you're renting from Malaga, you'll get a good deal....a deal that will evaporate if you want to drop the car in Madrid. Spanair still has flights on 4 Nov for 50 Euro/pp all in. For the same day, you can also still get AVE train fares of about 45 Euro/pp.
