We are driving the 3 plus hour drive from Isle Sur La Sorgue to Villefrance on a Friday morning. I am wondering if Lourmarin is worth the stop. We will have been in the area for 4 days before leaving and will not have been to Lourmarin. It looks like it is right on the way from what I can see. I read that they have a nice market on Friday and that might be nice to get some supplies. I am not sure if it is right on the way or not. Any information is appreciated.

You can get to Villefranche in 2.5 hours on A8, but you'd miss all the beauty of the Luberon. Check out La Pause (Gordes) or l'Arome (Bonnieux) on TA for your drive to Lourmarin. Get to Villefranche when you get there. We had great lunches in each place. We were based in Lourmarin for 5 days and loved its central location for the area. If you'd like restaurant rec's for Lourmarin send me a PM. Driving from Isle-sur-la-Sorgue thru Lourmarin will add 40 minutes to your trip; thru Gordes adds another 20 minutes, but our experience at La Pause (get there early-owner/chef/waiter/dishwasher serves only six for lunch) was a highlight of our month in France.
We are going to Gordes, Rousillion, Lavender Route one day during our stay before we leave for the coast. What is La Pause all about? What was it that made it so memorable for you. A month in France wow When did you go? We are spending three weeks and after books books and more books ,, I still feel like a novice and hope I do this right, I am loosely following Rick's three week whirlwind tour We are are restless family who like to be on the move so that works for us. I will read more about this restaurant you wrote about. Is it very very expensive. We are on a budget and need to consider costs. Right now in Boston it is like 99 degrees, I hope Provence is not that hot but I read it is.I think I will need to buy a fan at a store in France and bring it from place to place. I have two days in French Riviera and and staying in Villefrance, want to go to Eze, La turbie, and then old town Nice and drive through Monte Carlo for fun. Any big misses?? We are not doing museums in this area, just want to walk around beautiful towns and take it in. I think we want to see Monte Carlo Casino at night and then go back to Nice for a dinner in Old town. I hear La Rottisserrie is great, Any thoughts please let me know. Merci Carol
My husband and I have tiny battery-operated "personal fans" (about 4-5 inches long) that are lifesavers on hot, humid days when we're doing a lot of walking.
Lourmarin is worth a stop. Perhaps spend some time there then go on to nearby Cucuron for lunch around the grand etang. From there go through pretty Ansouis on the way back to your main route.
