Help!! On a Friday in September (during the day)we'll be driving from Bastogne to Giverny. The shortest route would take us right thru Paris. A longer route thru Beauvais, France, would avoid having to drive thru Paris. Any thoughts on driving thru Paris? We have the time to do the longer route--especially if driving thru Paris is a problem.
If you're talking to somebody about these routes, shoot them. If you're using a gps or some kind of mapping software, throw them away. The Beauvais route with have to be up through Amiens or something, then a bunch of back roads toward Vernon......and probably some back roads in Belgium as well. Driving through Paris, or even using the Paris peripherique is equally nuts. Head straight toward Paris on the freeways from Bastogne (passing through Reims). About ten miles out of Paris (close to Nogent-sur-Marne) the A86 makes a northern semi-circle around Paris (this is not the Paris peripherique). Follow it to the A14 which will be about abeam Nanterre (but to the northwest of it). Hang a right on the A14 and follow it to the A13/A13a split and scoot on into Giverny. It'll take less than four hours. Damn computers.
Thanks, Ed, I'll check that route out on my maps!!
