Driving Andalucia, luggage safety

We are picking a car up at Seville airport and driving to Arcos de la Frontera 1 night stay, Ronda 2 night stay and Granada 2 night stay before heading to Nerja. The advice sites have us paranoid about our luggage in the car while we are touring the smaller villages along the way. What advice do you all have and is theft from cars actually that prevalent?

'The advice sites have us paranoid about our luggage in the car while we are touring the smaller villages' -
laughable. What advice sites? Provide links. Common sense. Put your luggage in the boot, nothing on show - there is far worse behaviour in the U.S. than in those villages in Andalucia, wherever you intend.

Travel Smarts -Don't leave ANYTHING in plain view! You will have no problem along the way - just park in one of the many secured underground lots. The biggest 'problem' will be the cost of parking! In Tarifa we parked our car for 2 nights on a dimly lit sidestreet - no problem just as promised by the hotel manager. In Gibraltar we parked along the road in Spain and walked across the border for the day. Take the usual precautions and enjoy your trip.

There is always a risk but a few things minimize the risk. Never leave ANYTHING in sight. I mean ANYTHING. Make the car seem completely empty to avoid any temptation for a thief. Don't make a big fuss of putting lots of things in the trunk when you park. If someone were scoping out for victims, loudly declaring that you are putting your purse or computer in the trunk, of spending 5 minutes doing so makes it pretty obvious. Bring valuables with you. Purses, computers, cameras, documents... Clothing is far more replaceable than expensive items or travel documents.
