We are traveling from Logrono, Spain to Paris. Would like to spend several days on the way. Thinking of the Loire Valley. Any other suggestions? Should we take the tran or drive. We would need to rent the car after we get to France to avoid the surcharge of dropping it off in a different country. Where should we get the car?

If you're going to get a car, do it in France. Biarritz is probably your best closest bet, and it's easy enough to get there by train from Logrono (via Irun/Hendaye). Alternatively, you might consider, after a visit to Biarritz/Bayonne, getting the train up to Bordeaux. It's quite a boring drive up there (IMHO!) and you could get a car there instead.
