I will have 1 - 1 1/2 days in Dresden, and the Green Vault is only open one of those 'days.' I went online to prebook tickets, but the only times available make my train connections very difficult. Has anyone had luck getting walk up tickets at the Green Vault recently? Is it a must see? How long would you allot for the visit?

KELLY - when are you going to be in Dresden ? I was last there in the late spring, and had no trouble getting walk-up tickets. The wait was no more than 10 minutes. However, if you plan to visit in the height of the summer travel season, then my guess is that the lines for walk-up tickets may well be longer.
Was it worth it? Yes, definitely. Very interesting. One of the major tourist "must-sees" in Dresden. It is known throughout the world. Plenty of things you will see no where else. You can take as little as an hour or so for a brief look @ the highlights, or take many hours if you are so inclined. You will be glad you did.
