Dream railpass trip?

Okay, here's where we've been: London, Paris, Nice, Arles, Cannes, Saint Tropez, Aix en Provence, Venice, Cinque Terre, Florence, Milan.

Now, we're planning another trip -- maybe three weeks. Maybe a railpass for two countries where we can travel any five or six days over that period. Where should we go? We love small towns (I've heard Annecy in France is gorgeous), and big towns for that matter. We're thinking Spain -- partner wants to see Gaudi buildings -- but we've never been to Amsterdam, Berlin, or Rome. We like a mix of history and culture plus great new modern architecture.

Any thoughts? Thanks very much!

Our trip this fall consists of Amsterdam, Bruges, St Goar, Baden-Baden, Garmisch, and Munich all by rail. We try to mix small and big cities.

My two cents.

Roman, if you haven't been to Spain, and you're thinking of the Railpass, I'd try there.

Spain is so lovely... Barcelona with the Gaudi influence is amazing. Madrid is a great central location where you can take day or short trips to Toledo, Segovia, and other parts.

You can even spend a night at a paradores, which are old castles, monastaries, convents which are now government run hotels/inns. http://www.paradores-spain.com
