Douro Valley, Portugal

My husband and I (early 60s) plan to spend three nights in the Doueo Valley in late September. We will be traveling by car. I have reservations at Hotel Régua Douro and Hotel Folgosa Douro. Our interests are touring the countryside and perhaps taking the train into Porto for a day. What are your thoughts on the hotels and what recommendations do have for sites to see.

The key for the Douro is to slow down. Enjoy the scenery, slow down and savor the moments of tasting the ports at the wineries & walk the vineyards. watch the trains come and go &the water traffic also onm the river, take pics enjoy the beautiful tile work. We stayed at Regua Douro and were very happy with all.
We stayed 2 nights then drive to Porto.
