A dilemma--I am taking the RS spain/morocco trip next year and want to add on a few days. Both Lisbon and SW France are enticing, with SW France winning on the easier to get around by public transport to Barecelona front. Any opinions which to see? I've traveled around other areas of France (Provence, Burgundy, Paris) and loved it, never been to Portugal. Thanks

This choice is between two such profoundly different alternatives that I am not sure anyone can advise you except you. Lisbon a city, SW France an entire region.
I think the Rick Steves rule of thumb is something like, if you are truly indifferent, make the choice that is logistically less complicated. In this case that might depend on from where you can arrange to fly home.
