Hi:
I'm planning my 10th Anniv. trip and wonder if trying to visit all the following cities is doable? (travel will be via train)
- Vienna
- Salzburg
- Hallstatt
- Innsbruck
- Hopfgarten im Brixental
- Munchen
- Bad Durkheim
Thanks in advance.

Ross, if you flew into Vienna, stayed there for at least two full days, then took train to Salzburg for the Hallstadt/Salzburg area (4 full days minimum), then needed the bigger part of a day to get to Hopfgarten, spend a full day there, transfered to Innsbruck, stayed one full day, then spent one full day in the Garmisch are with evening arrival in Munich where you then spent another 2 full days before taking the half day journey to Bad Dürkheim... oops, running out of days. Skip Hopfgarten for Bad Dürkheim or vv. (I'd skip Hopfgarten, visit Bad Dürkheim and flew back out of Frankfurt)
Sounds like a wonderful trip. Bad Durkheim doesn't quite seem on your route, but I assume that you have a good reason for including it. (There are other "Bad" cities closer by.) My preference would be to spend 2 nights in Hallstatt and only 1 in Salzburg because you might need the R & R after the crowds in Vienna and Salzburg.
By the way the ride from Munich to Bad Dürkheim is great. It starts with a 3 hrs. something smooth ICE ride to Mannheim where you talk the "cross-country" tram to Bad Dürkheim. The tram takes you all the way thru the pedestrian zone, which is like a tram ride thru a shopping mall before it leaves the city and the runs thru vineyards. Its ends just outside the Casino of Bad Dürkheim.
