Your Swiss pass will not cover you in Italy. You will need to see a Swiss ticket agent to get your ticket to Milan and back. Show your pass and the agent will make the fare adjustment. If you buy your Swiss pass online in advance, request the free family card. Your 14-yr old will travel for free in Switzerland. If you buy your Swiss pass in Switzerland, I believe that you have to purchase a junior card for 30CHF to do the same thing as the family card. The 14-yr old may be able to travel at 50% discount for the inside Italy portion of the trip. Again, the Swiss ticket agent can do this for you.
