On our trip to Interlaken in May, we will be using Half-Fare Cards + Family Card for 2 of our 3 children (the oldest just turned 16 and is now officially out of the Swiss "child" category). We wanted to confirm a couple things about the Family Card up on the high mountain rails in the area: - Is the Family Card valid there, so our 2 younger children can really ride free to Stechelberg, Murren, Wengen, Kleine Scheidegg, etc?
- Does "high mountain rail" also include cable cars and funiculars, like to Schilthorn or Neiderhorn or Mannlichen? The Schilthorn website www.schilthorn.ch/en/timetable-tariffs says that children ride free with a 30chf Junior Card but that's not the same as the Family Card, is it? Can the Family Card work too? Thanks for the help from anyone who knows!
30chf Junior Card is the same as the Free Family Card. If you don't ask for the Free Family Card or you forget it and leave it behind then you can buy the 30chf Junior Card when you get to Switzerland...it's the same thing. Yes, your Free Family Card will work to Schilthorn AND to Jungfrau.
Tim,
Thanks so much for the info. Free rides are always nice! We are purchasing the Half-Fare Cards + Family Card today, which is great to get out of the way. Bryce
