Do you think prices will go down?

Looking to fly to London out of Madrid the first two weeks of Oct. I have been searching flights for approx 3 months and prices stayed steady @11-1200. Prices just went down to $880 via British Airways. I'm tempted to purchase but wondering if I should wait another month or two. I used to travel a lot more before graduating from college (and having to get a real job :O) and I'm not up on the current trends w/airlines. If you have an opinion I would love to hear it.
Thanks

$880 on British from the West coast is very good. I would buy that now before it changes.

That's a good fare. I wouldn't wait and would buy it now...there are too many factors suggesting prices will not decrease. I was actively looking for several months, and the best I found for that time of year was just around $950. Things could be worse...just bought another ticket to a continent other than Europe - $2500 in economy for one person. It still stings.

Very good price indeed!! But be aware that you are probably flying American Airlines or Iberia rather than British Airways. And you have a choice of flying out of Sacramento or San Francisco for even a bit less.

I always fly out of Sacramento. You can't fly direct, but the time and money it takes to get to San Francisco makes it worth an extra plane change. I look at it as a way to stretch my legs and use a real bathroom mid-trip. I have always found airfares to be comparable too.

Prices will go down maybe before next winter. Otherwise they will go up.

It looks like they just DID go down and you should take advantage while you can.

Try KLM. I'm doing Scotland and Ireland in June. British Airways and Air Canada were ridiculous so I started looking elsewhere. Got Vancouver, Amsterdam, Glasgow with a return London, Amsterdam, Vancovuer for $1000. You may do better since you're flying out of the US and there will be alot less taxes than we pay. You may also want to try Icelandair. They go via Reykejavik into London and sometimes have good deals. Mind you might have to fly via Seattle. You also may want to do a London return flight and fly Easy Jet to Madrid. I do it all the time and if you book early enough you could get an Easy Jet flight for about 25 GBP. Be persistent. I found my flight at 5:30 am one morning. Sometimes it's just being in the right place at the right time. Happy travels!

If your fare quote of $880 from BA includes fuel surcharges and taxes: Buy It now.
Do Not hesitate. I have been tracking fares from SFO to europe cities since Nov 2011 and your quote is Very Good. Madrid can be a more expensive city to fly out of in gen and London always has xtra airport fees over some other european airports so your fare is Excellent!

Thanks everyone for your opinions! I was able to get that same flight for $850 on travelocity. I could have gotten it for $799 on expedia but it included two layovers, which wasn't worth the added travel time. I'm glad I booked when I did. :D
