In looking over many of the typical Paris destinations, I notice that many are free for 15 year olds. Is this pretty universally true in Paris? I would love to save the 35Euro on her pass, but I am a little wary because in our other planned cities 15 year olds pay at most sites.
Glad to help. Also, I was worried we would have to have a ticket issued for him to enter museums even though he was getting in free. That is not the case. None of the locations we visited required him to have a ticket at all. You all still will have to go through the security lines however.
No, you won't need to buy a pass for your 15 yr old. We visited a number of museums in Paris last summer with our 16 year old . We did not have to pay admission charges for him, i.e. Louvre, d'Orsay, etc. At most he got asked his age as entered. The Museum pass website site has a blurb I believe about not needing to buy a pass for "Under 18's".
Thank you for the information! I did a little research myself and it seemed that teens would be free, but I was just afraid to believe it to be true. Also, you address my other apprehension, which is, how much scrutiny will we receive bringing in an un-ticketed teen. My nearly-16-year-old teen has an exasperating ability to look 22 or 23. That, coupled, with my non-existent French skills, just made me a little nervous. However, if your experience is that it's no big deal and they get in no problem, I would love to save the 35 Euros.
I have taken my 14 yr old son to Paris, and yes, many places free. He did not however look much older then his age(other then being tall ), but I did carry a photocopy of his Passport and he carried his school id just in case asked. We were never asked.
We traveled to Paris with our 15 and 12 year old sons last summer and went to a number of museums. My husband and I each had a museum pass. The boys walked in free with us and were never challenged. We did have my 15 year old bring his student i.d., but he never needed it. In general we found the attitude in Paris to be that kids were free as opposed to London, where it seemed like we nearly always had to buy tickets for the kids!
