DK Rhine River Cruise

Our family was in Bacharach, Germany in mid-July. We were in the front of the line trying to get on the DK Rhine River cruise to St. Goar with our railpasses. However, we didn't get to board the cruise because there were people waiting with tickets. The cruise is usually very full during the summer and I don't think it's possible to ride the cruise free with the railpass. I used Rick Steves' "Best of Europe" book for our 8-week trip to Europe. Rick said the cruise was never full and I think this information should be corrected.

How interesting. We rode the cruise July 6th with our German Twin Rail Passes. We got on in Bacharach and road the ship to St. Goar without any problems at all. The ship was full but there still was room for more people.

BTW, just for the record, the ship line is K-D (Köln-Düsseldorf).

But, that is interesting to know. I rode the K-D line once, but it was in April, the day they started running. I had a ticket, but the ship was no where near full.

I didn't mention that it was the senior citizen half-off day and there were a lot of people couldn't
get on board even with tickets. I planned my trip to
stay one night in Bacharach mainly to ride the cruise.
We ended up riding the train to St. Goar and climbed
the Rheinfels castle. Luckily, we got to ride a cruise
on the Rhine river in Cologne.
