We are planning on renting an apartment in paris and are looking at options from Vacation in Paris Site. All of the Rick Steve's recommended Rue Cler are taken and Vacations in Paris recommends nice apartments in the Marais area and in District 2 several blocks behind the Lourve. Has anyone had experience staying in these areas? Which would you recommend if either?

We rented an apartment in the Marais several years ago and were really pleased with the location. We were 3 blocks from Notre Dame and there were lots of restaurants and shops close by. I would definitely rent in the Marais district again.

Both are very nice. I like the Marais a bit more. And closer to the river the better. My favorite areas are the 4th, 5th and 6th. My most favorite neighborhood is Ile St. Louis in the 4th.
