Distance of VIenna Praterstern to Vienna City Centre

I was wondering if the Student Agency Bus is the best option to get to Vienna from Prague. The fare is really cheap but slow travel time.

I would also like to know if it's really far from the city centre. What's the best option to travel from Prague to Vienna cheaply other than the Student Agency Bus? Do I have to book or buy the ticket on that day itself?

Is there an offer for this route like the DB from Berlin to Prague? I'm travelling from Prague to Vienna on the 21/09/07.

I do not have answers to your other questions, but according to the Michelin site, from PRATERSTERN subway station in Vienna to STEPHANSPLATZ subway station (city center, Vienna) it is 2.5km.
