I would like to find restaurants that have access for a disabled traveler. I have trouble walking and use a walker. I would like to know which museums have wheelchairs for rent.
If you google "Paris Museum disabled accessibility" you will find a lot of information to help you.
Hi Carol,, one more suggestion, when you find a restaurant that is assesible,,, be careful, the darn bathrooms are STILl often up or down often steep stairs. Ask ask ask. Paris is my favorite Europeon city, but compared to the States and Canada it is not nearly as mobility impaired friendly as we are used to. YOu can easily go on the websites for sites like the Louvre and the Musee Orsay and see if they rent chairs. Just google for their sites. Good luck
I have been to Paris several times and I am handicapped. I use an electric scooter to travel about in Paris and find that most restaurants, but not all, are on ground floor without a step or have one step to enter. As stated above, getting in is not the problem, going to the toilet is. Most are up or down a set of winding, narrow stairs. The major dept. stores have accessible toilets as do the museums. After that, accessibility becomes problematic at best. Also, some restaurant toilets still have the hole in the floor system, no stool, which makes it even "more fun" for handicapped persons. If you have trouble waking, why not rent a chair for your time in Paris, or bring your own?
