Dinner in Beaune

Hi! My husband and I will be spending 2 nights in Beaune on our way to Paris in May. If you have been to Beaune, where would you recommend for a good dinner featuring some of the local specialties? (Not necessarily fancy, just delicious with a good atmosphere!) I plan on checking out the RS guidebook as well, but I would appreciate hearing your personal experiences! Thanks!

I haven't been to Beaune yet, but have been researching this subject. We are staying two nights in July for the Tour de France. Unfortunately for us, we will be there Sunday and Monday when most of the restaurants are closed. But I did look at RS France listing and TripAdvisor.com. The followings are listed both by RS and TA. Les Caves Madeleine is #7 on TA and La Ciboulette is #2 on TA with mostly positive reviews. Brasserie le Carnot is #41 on TA with some comments that the food is "average". Bistrot Bourguignon is #50 with comments about bad service. I'm going to make reservations at l'Auberge Bourguignonne because it's open on Sunday and got good reviews. Let us know how your experience went in May.
Bon appetit.

We had a wonderful, wonderful -- beautiful, actually -- Burgundian dinner at the Hotel Montrachet, which is located in a famous vineyard about 3 miles outside of Beaune. Pretty sure Rick's France book recommends it highly. It is not cheap but lovely and a good value, we thought.
