Dining Around Marais without Breaking the Bank

I am looking for suggestions for dining around Marais, or for that matter, any other favorite french style restaurants in Paris that are reasonable, say 22E to 25E.

Hi Pat,
I don't have any specific suggestions (I'm in the planning stage too) But, in my research on this board, someone mentioned the blog of David Lebovitz: http://www.davidlebovitz.com/index.html

He is an American living in Paris and he blogs about food (he's a pastry chef and cookbook author). I've scoured his archives and come up with several dining options, as well as patisseries and chocolateries I want to visit. You may find some good information there. He doesn't always note the prices, but he does sometimes, and sometimes they are in the range you noted. Hope it helps!

We had a good meal, nothing fancy, at Cafe Hugo in Place des Vosges. It was good and inexpensive. Enjoy your trip. We will be there in mid October.

It's been a long time since I ate in the Marais as we generally stay on the Left Bank. My best suggestion is just to walk and as you pass a restaurant look at the posted menu. If it looks interesting and reasonable, note it and come back later. Menu gazing is quite the thing in Paris, for locals and tourists. We've never really had a bad meal in Paris or France, and I'm convinced that you have to work at it to get one. One of our favorite Paris activities is to look at a map, find an area where we haven't explored, take the metro there and start walking. We always find a great park or garden to explore, an interesting church or building and along the way, we find a place to eat. Usually, we have our big meal at lunch and then on our way back to the hotel, will stop in a grocery or shops and get items for a great picnic in our room or the courtyard of our hotel. Nothing quite beats a French picnic and it does save money. After a day of hiking Paris, that's our kind of nightlife!

3 years ago in Paris, we ate at 2 Marais restaurants listed in the 2004 Rick Steves Paris book.

1) Le Marche - We did not really really care for this one. It was just ok.

2) Chez Janou - This place was packed and we had to wait a while to be seated. However, the food was great.
