We have a diesel car and are having a difficult time finding diesel fuel in Amboise, France. Can anyone give advice as to where to find a station that sells diesel nearby?
This seems strange to me, "gazole" is normally at any gas station . . . ("essence" being gasoline).
You can find a gas station on the other side of the river after the train station at the Intermarche store.
And if you can't find the station, there are plenty of wineries nearby that will make you forget that you need diesel fuel. Seriously, I didn't realize diesel could sometimes be a problem in France. I've often rented diesel and never thought about whether the station I was stopping at had diesel. Maybe there are regional variations.
I should have added to my last comment: this shows how great this web site is. Where else could you post such a specific question and get a prompt answer?
Maybe Kim has the answer. Look for the word "gazole" rather than "diesel."
No maybe to it, Kim had it exactly right. It's been years since I've seen a major station that didn't sell diesel.
BE sure to use a rag/gloves when pumping diesel... oily and stinky smells up your hands for the rest of the day! Did you make it up the river to Chaumont... the best castle we went to! Loved the third floor in all its decrepidness!
Thank you very much. We were looking for diesel and did not realize that gaszole was the same thing! This is a fantastic web site..
Yes, fuel names can be tricky. Diesel/Gasolio/Gazole Gasoline/Petrol/Benzina/Benzine Beware of truck-only pumps whose nozzles don't fit car tanks.
Phew! I was afraid someone would think I was being obnoxious. . But it certainly is confusing to have the word that looks closest to gas for us, in fact be the opposite!
