Destination suggestions wanted

I got home 24.5 hours ago from 13 wonderful days in Italy and am already jonesing for more travel.

I am planning to take a cruise (depart/return Amsterdam) to Scandanavia & St. Petersburg June 14-26. I'm looking for about a week somewhere before the cruise, no more than one hotel change because I don't want to lug my suitcase around any more than necessary, so I'm willing to do day trips. I've been to Amsterdam (and surroundings) several times.

My fallback plan is Paris.

Try not to take a bus in St. Petersburg....really, don't. I almost got pregnant during one 10 block trip, it was SOOOOO full, it was rediculous but evidently common.

The Russian State Museum was a wonderful visit. But The Hermitage is stupendous...just the building is so beautiful.

Fallback is Paris? What a place to fall back on.
One can never tire of Paris.
