I can't decided! We arrive in Lauterbrunnen late afternoon, Friday April 18, spend the night, one day to explore, stay Sat. night, then leave Sunday morning for Venice. I can't decided between these place to stay. They all have space available. HELP!

We have stayed at the Hotel Silberhorn and really enjoyed it. I'm betting that it's the most expensive of the three. Great breakfast and restaurant. RS doesn't mention it in his book because it's a bit more expensive. Ask to stay in their newer annex. It's great. The rooms are newer. They do respond to email.
RS really likes the Hotel Staubbach. Less expensive and #1 for hotels in Lauterbrunnen on www.tripadvisor.com. However, traveler's on that site report that although the views are great, the rooms are sparse but clean.
The Chalet Fontana is a great choice. Probably a bit more expensive that the Staubbach but less than the Silberhorn, the views from the village cannot be matched.
With such a short visit, the Hotel Silberhorn is about 500 feet from the Lauterbrunnen train station which is the hub to everything there. Very convenient. I like the Hotel Silberhorn but Muerren is stunning. The Hotel Staubbach, albeit cheaper, would not be my choice.

Kathy, I think Chalet Fontana is only open on a week-basis until May. Even I am trying to get a room there and realized this when I looked at their website. I am visiting there from April 2 for a few days only. Please let me know if you know more.
