Planning to book an open jaw trip into Seville and out of Madrid (to/from US). Finding outrageous prices for Seville airport to hotel transfer. Hoping to get to Granada, Tarifa/Tangiers, then back to Madrid without a car. How "safe" are the local buses and bus stations (travelling with kids) in Southern Spain? Planning to use trains as much as possible but buses seem to make sense and be the only option in a few places. Hearing unemployment down south has made for more crime against tourists, anyone have feedback on that? THANKS, Janice
the buses are very safe and comfortable. they have movies on the bus between Seville and Granada. trains are more expensive, and less frequent. the unemployment rate number is unreliable in europe because people can get paid for small jobs unlike the US, so they're not poor. in general it's as safe as everywhere else, and you can always grab a taxi - it's much cheaper there.
I think the one thing you should concentrate on is remembering to take travel sick pills for the ferry trip to Tangier - it can be rough! Make sure you go to TANGER and NOT TANGER-MED!!
