Heading to france in ten days(!) and will be staying for a portion of my trip in Lyon with a friend. Since I have four days there I wanted to take a few daytrips. I'm definitely planning to visit Avignon but am having a hard time deciding between Beaune, Annecy, and Perouges. I'm also limited to traveling by train only. Any thoughts?
I don't know about the train connection but I'd choose Annecy. Beautiful lake and town.
Avignon is nice, but it would not be my first choice in Provence--see Arles or Nimes.
Beaune charming, and you could rent a bicycle and see a little countryside. Perhaps less compelling, though, if you have zero interest in wine.
