Days trips from Asterdam in June end with a BABY!

We will be visiting Amsterdam in June end (sunday/monday/tuesday)2010 with our 8 month old baby. This is our first visit to the Netherlands and we are hoping to get some suggestions on day trips given it's sunday, monday and tuesday and we have a BABY on board :-)

Three great day trips, two that are easy by train and bus, and one that is better with a car.

Less than 1/2 hour by train and walking you can go to the Zaanse Schans open air museum. This is a small easily walkable area preserving old windmills and hand crafts near to Amsterdam. I believe the train stop for it is Koog-Zaan Dyke.

About an hour or hour and a quarter by rail from Amsterdam is Arnhem. It is then a 15 minute bus ride to the Open Air Museum, this is a great place to stroll through the history of villages in the Netherlands. You can spend all day just strolling, and often enjoying the sun when it is dreary in Amsterdam. There are plenty of places to feed and change the baby here.

Driving wise, heading out on a drive towards the village of Edam and just meandering the polders is a great day, best done by car in my opinion.

Don't forget to do a canal boat cruise in Amsterdam, the ones at dusk with the lights on the bridges are especially picturesque.
