Any suggestions of a day trip from Barcelona, Spain the weekend of Nov. 22, 2008? I plan to visit my daughter who is studying in Barcelona, Spain and she tends to do more sight seeing further out of Barcelona.
I visited Monserrat the beginning of October and found it to be absolutely glorious. The weather may be the most important factor, though. I went on a beautiful sunny day with the temperatures reaching the 70's which made hiking a treat and picture taking wonderful. The basilica is beautiful and the hiking trails revealed a new view at every turn. Worth the visit if the day is sunny. It's about an hour from Barcelona and extremely easy to reach by train. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy the clean air and quiet compared to Barcelona!
hi margie, lots of day trip from barcelona, that you can do on your own or with a tour. The best in my opinion, is a day trip to Montserrat, it is a monastery set in the montains near Barcelona. You can also take a wine tour to the penedes valley, about an hour from Barcelona, we went to the Torres winery and the Cordeniu champagne winery. Not far away is the Costa Brava and the Dali museum in Figueres and the grec and roman ruins of Empuries near the village of L'Escala. Have a good trip!
You could go to Sitges..A BEAUTIFUL beach town south of Barcelona. You can take the train there. We stayed in a villa there in 07. Drive up the Costa Brava to Tossa De Mar. That is gorgeous to. There is Gerona also beautiful. Those are just a few. I am sure your daughter will have some ideas. Barcelona is a beautiful city. I loved it and cannot wait to get back there.
Hi,
My family enjoyed the Joan Miro Museum and the Parc Guell (weather permitting).
