I tried a bus tour to Mont St. Michel to see how good they are. They are okay but would like some good ones that are not too expensive for day trip to Brittany any recommendations??? I wish Rick Steves had some of these set up in the area I know it would be good value...
A number of years ago, we used Gray Line Tours, a small van of 6-8 persons to take a day trip out to the Loire Valley/Chateaus. It was wonderful! They may offer Brittany as well. There are several small, independent tour companies that offer day trips. Check the brochures at the tourist office in Paris or ask at your hotel for a recommendation.
Yes I am staying in Paris for several weeks to study International Business so have to make siteseeing on few days off worth the time Thanks for websites or any advice on how to get best deal so I can see more....Little bit of French
Unsure as to what time of year you are going.... Reims is 1 hour on the train from Paris. Very walkable through the adorable town and amazing (2) cathedrals. Make reservations in advance for English speaking tours of champagne houses. Highly recommend. My husband and I were able to tour 3 houses, have lunch, and see both cathedrals and still be back on a 5PM train to Paris. If you want to see some of Brittany, I might suggest taking the train (3 hoursish) to St. Nazaire. Cute beach town. Pick up a car there if you have a day to see Geurande (walled medevil town) or Piriac.
I am here in Paris now ...Went on Cityrama bus tour to Mont St. Michel was nice full bus top and bottom. Also went to Nuit Blanche for a few hours. Had to rent an apartment the size of a Minnie Winnie motorhome, snug but close to classes 7 flights of stairs top of the bldg. no elevator.. Here till almost Christmas. Lots of studying but should have a day or two to sitesee each week. I don't drive manual, rental cars more expensive if automatic. Went to Notre Dame last week to mass and later a concert. Really interesting acoustics...
Why don't you check out the hop on, hop off tour bus? That way you can see a little bit of everything on your own daily schedule. Or, to visit outside Paris, check out the trains. They are relatively cheap so on your own or with a friend, you could investigate any town you wanted. What a great adventure for you. I am jealous!!
