We will be in France in mid September. We will stay in Paris the first 4 days, staying near the Luxembourg gardens and the last 2 days of our trip on Ile St Louis. I would love to see both locations. Is it possible to see both in one long day? My husband only wants one day away from the city.
Stephanie, With only 6 days in Paris, I'd say just do Versailles. I myself can easily spend the whole day there.
It takes about 1 hr 30 min between them on the train, and neither site is right by a train station. I'd pick one or the other. Spend a day at Versailles, then beg please, please, please honey, can we spend an afternoon at Giverny?
Here's another thread about this question: http://tinyurl.com/c7u6f36 The general consensus was NO.
We were in Paris last May, and took day trips to Versailles and Giverny. Each destination was worth a full day.
