Day trip to Strasborg from Paris

It was recommended that we take a day trip from Paris to Strasborg using the TGV. Has anyone done this? Was booking/taking the TVG easy? Was Strasborg as beautiful as they say? Any suggestions on this topic would be helpful.

This is the most user friendly train schedule website http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml, put in the start and end, date doesn't matter (you're not using this site to buy tickets) and you'll see the travel times, station to station only. Add for time to get to the station, wait for the train, on both ends, etc. This will give you an idea of how your day is going to go.

Thanks Kent for your help. I found that most websites would translate the 1st page of the website but if you continued farther it reverted to French. Although my French is good, I don't trust my comprehension to get all the details.

I did this trip about a month ago and had a great time. We took the earliest trip in the morning and booked the latest trip back to Paris through the TGV website (in French). I also wasn't so confident that I did it correctly, but all was well at the stations.

We ended up rescheduling our train back for an earlier time because we were exhausted--and as we had both been to Strasbourg in the past, we were fine doing this.

I love Strasbourg, especially along the river.

If you do this, you can get discount fares by booking well in advance (up to three months allowed) at www.tgv-europe.com. To keep the site in English and to keep from being bumped to the RailEurope site which doesn't offer discount fares, choose Great Britain as both your country of residence and the country in which you will retrieve your tickets. If you get a Prems fare (can be as low as €22), you print the tickets yourself. For any other fare you can pick up your tickets at any SNCF station or boutique (ticket shop) in France, even though you initially chose Great Britain. The standard 2nd class fare ranges from 65-75 euro, so book ASAP and save yourselves some money.
