Hi,
We are going to be in Trier for a couple days and would like to drive into France. We will have a car. Can anyone recommend a cute picturesque town to visit for lunch an a little sight seeing.

Metz is the nearest larger town in France to Trier and would make a good day trip. It has a very nice old town, some pleasant art nouveau buildings on the avenue around the southern edge of the centre, and attractive gardens along the Moselle river for walking. I highly recommend a restaurant in the old area called "Le Bouchon" (8 rue Ladoucette).
