My husband and I will be in Paris for a week in the first part of Dec. and want to see the American cemetery. Has anyone done this as a long day trip or would you really recommend staying over in Bayeux and not being so rushed?
Not sure how many days to use for travel and to make sure and allow as much time as possible in Paris also
I assume that there's some connection with, or interest in, the D-Day invasion and the subsequent breakout from the beach-head. With Bayeux at least 2.5 hours from Paris, you'd probably kick yourselves if you didn't tour the beaches and the other important D-Day locations. I'd spend one night, for sure.
I guarantee you'll enjoy your day in Normandy much more if you don't have to think about getting back to Paris that same night.
If you start early, one full day gives you plenty of time to see the Omaha Beach area and the Bayeux tapestry. By the way, don't skip the tapestry - it's amazing. And be sure to see the short introductory film before the actual tapestry - you'll understand the tapestry much better.
one night in bayeux otherwise you will be spinning.
include Mont St Michel.
Thank you for the input, it does seem to be unanimous!
I think that is what I was leaning towards and you all definitely confirmed that. I will go about making some reservations now!
Thanks again
