I am driving between cities like Berlin, Prague, Vienna. Considering a day stop in Dresden between Berlin & Prague. Or Cesky Krumlov between Prague & Vienna. I'm not eager to simply park and leave my roll top bags in our car, risking theft, etc... Anyone have a strategy I can follow to allow some simple day stops like these, yet ease my concerns about suitcase robberies? Thanks
The usual precautions are in order: park in well-lighted, safe areas, lock your car, and don't leave anything at all visible in the car. We just did a day trip in Dresden last month, driving between Berlin and Bautzen. We parked in a very nice underground garage under the Frauenkirche that seemed quite safe. All luggage, jackets, books etc. were hidden out of sight in the trunk. The only thing that might have been left in the car were gummi bear wrappers and empty Fanta bottles (teen boys), which might actually discourage a thief. Ha ha!
One of our rental cars was a smallish minivan, but it had a retractable cover that could be pulled over items stored in the back.
