Hi, my husband and I will be in Amsterdam for only 4 days, I would love to take a Day trip over to Paris just to see the major sites (like a tour for 4 or 5 hrs)and hop back on a plane back to Amsterdam. I see day tours from London but not from Amsterdam. Is it possible?
Thanks
The train is the best way to get between Amsterdam and Paris, but it would be too slow for your purposes. There are no budget airlnes that fly Amsterdam-Paris. KLM has a flight that leaves AMS at 06:50 and arrives at CDG at 08:05. Without any delays, allow an hour to get into Paris. Leave CDG on KLM at 20:55 and arrive at AMS at 22:40. The fare would be over $600 US. In Paris you could take a hop-off hop-on bus tour, either www.carsrouges.com or www.paris-opentour.com. Would it be worth the time, effort, and expense? As much as I love Paris, I'd have to say "no." Save Paris for another trip.
This is largely a matter of personal taste, but it would be an awful lot of time in transit for a short look at Paris. I doubt you save much time, if any, flying, versus the train.
Only you know what you really want, but just maybe you'd have a better day in or near Amsterdam.
yes, it is possible to do a 4-5 hr tour but is it worth your time and expense?
You would need 4-5 days in Parid to do it justice. I would suggest that you see the Eiffel tower at night when the strobe lights are on at the top of the hour. Then sacre couer, notre dame, arch du triumph, d'orsay museum of impressionist paintings then the louvre.
However, would you consider a day trip to Brugge, with its beautiful canal or to Brussel with its beautiful city center?
